Our Team

As a dedicated optometrist with a passion for enhancing vision and improving ocular health, Dr. Misto brings a blend of expertise, compassion, and personalized care to every patient interaction.  With a patient-centered approach, she takes the time to listen to each patient’s concerns and preferences, ensuring every visit is comfortable and informative.


Dr. Misto completed her undergraduate studies at Stonehill College and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry.  She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree in 1993 from The New England College of Optometry in Boston with high honors.  She has since amassed over 30 years of experience in providing comprehensive eye care services.  Upon graduation, Dr. Misto pursued further training and completed a residency in hospital-based and geriatric optometry at The Newington VA Hospital in Connecticut.  While there, she was able to gain expertise in a wide range of eye conditions with an emphasis on ocular disease.  Her additional training includes The Eye Foundation of Utah, Dimock Community Eye Clinic, and the South End Eye Clinic in Boston.


Dr Misto is a board-certified optometrist and a longstanding member of the American Optometric Association and Rhode Island Optometric Association.  She is currently co-owner of Coastal Eye Associates.


In her free time, Dr. Misto enjoys spending time with family and friends.  She enjoys many outdoor activities such as traveling, hiking, and boating.  Dr. Misto looks forward to the opportunity to serve you and your family and become a trusted partner in safeguarding your gift of sight.

Dr. Salvatore Magliari is a dedicated and compassionate optometrist committed to providing exceptional eye care to patients of all ages.  With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Magliari specializes in comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fittings, and the diagnosis and management of various eye conditions.  

Dr. Magliari earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts.  He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Rhode Island, where he graduated with high distinction.  Dr. Magliari completed his Rhode Island Optometric Internship under the head ophthalmologist, Dr. Charles Lanzillo of Thames Eye Group.   He joined Coastal Eye Associates in 2002 as an associate and became a partner in 2015.  He is currently co-owner of Coastal Eye Associates.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Magliari is dedicated to educating patients about the importance of eye health and proper eye care practices.  He takes his time to listen to each patient’s concerns and tailor treatment plans to meet their individual needs.

Outside of the office, Dr. Magliari enjoys spending time with his family, and friends, traveling, and golfing.  He looks forward to welcoming you to Coastal Eye Associates and providing you with the highest quality eye care in a warm and welcoming environment.

Dr. Abarr is a dedicated optometrist with a passion for providing exceptional eye care to patients of all ages. Graduating from The State University of New York College of Optometry in 2015, Dr. Abarr holds a Doctor of Optometry degree, accompanied by a Master's in Vision Science.

During her academic journey, Dr. Abarr focused her research on myopia control, demonstrating a commitment to advancing the understanding and treatment of vision-related issues. Dr. Abarr pursued further training through a residency in ocular disease at the Boston VA Healthcare System, honing her expertise in diagnosing and managing various eye conditions.


In 2016, Dr. Abarr joined Coastal Associates, where she has been an integral part of the team, delivering personalized eye care with compassion and precision. Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Abarr is deeply involved in the optometric community, serving as an active member and past president of the Rhode Island Optometric Association's Board of Optometry. Her leadership and advocacy efforts have contributed to the advancement of optometric standards and patient care in the region.

Outside of work, Dr. Abarr enjoys spending time with her family in Westerly where she resides with her husband, AJ, and their two beloved dogs, Leo and Oliver.

Dr. Jessica Cherenza is a board-certified optometrist dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive eye care to all ages. 

After completing her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Behavior from Wesleyan University, Dr. Cherenza went on to study at the New England College of Optometry. There, she completed various clinical externships where she honed her skills in diagnosing and managing a wide range of ocular diseases.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Cherenza is actively involved in the Rhode Island Optometric Association (RIOA).

Outside of the office, Dr. Cherenza enjoys creating art, spending time with family, and playing sports with friends. 

Dr. Cherenza is currently accepting new patients and looks forward to partnering with you on your journey to better eye care.

Dr. Grills is excited to join Coastal Eye Associates after practicing in Connecticut for over 15 years at Thames Eye Group in Mystic.

Dr. Grills graduated Magna Cum Laude from Villanova University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Comprehensive Science.  She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2008, where she was recognized with the Meritorious Service Award and inducted into the Optometric Honor Society.  Upon graduation, she completed a residency in Primary Eye Care through the New England College of Optometry at the Newington VA Hospital in Connecticut.  

Dr. Grills takes pride in building lasting relationships with patients, ensuring they feel comfortable and informed during their visits.  She is board certified and is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Connecticut Optometric Association.  

Outside of the office, she enjoys fitness classes at BarreCoast and spending time at the beach with her husband and their three daughters.
